Online / official / formal market These are rates you see on platforms, banks, forex bureaus, remittance services, etc. They reflect regulated or semi-regulated exchange rates, sometimes with markups.

Black / parallel / “aboki” market These are unofficial rates set by individuals or small operators, often meant for cash trades. They tend to diverge from the official rates, usually higher (i.e. worse for naira holders) when demand for dollars is strong.
